Experimental Study on the Thermal Performance of Flat Loop Heat Pipe Applied in Data Center Cooling

The cooling system is the auxiliary equipment that consumes most energy in a data center, accounting for about 30 to 50% of total consumption. In order effectively reduce consumption it very important improve heat exchange efficiency at chip level. Compared with air cooling, single-phase cold plate liquid and immersion flat loop pipe (FLHP) considered be better chip-level solution centers. It has extremely high transfer flux variability, can avoid operation risk caused by entering server. this paper, FLHP an evaporator designed “Tesla valve” flow channel configuration developed. Experiments on are carried out, focusing installation angles condition factors. results show inclination angle 20° critical point influence gravity performance FLHP; ensure good FLHP, should greater than 20°. equivalent coefficients condenser under different conditions calculated. found water provide higher lower operating noise. Additionally, limit, temperature uniformity, start-up stability significantly improved conditions. maximum load up 230 W, difference surface controlled within 0.5 °C, 20 °C cooling. Finally, using thermal management chip, its 166 41% respectively.
